9-Lives for $9

During the month of August we're dropping the adoption fee to only $9 for some very special cats.  All of these cats would make great companions but for whatever reason have been overlooked.  They have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and have been tested negative for FIV/FELV.  Visit this page to fill out an application and give one of them their forever home.

StarStar is a very cute round-eyed 8 year old Tortie with a large personality. She likes to act very silly at times, racing around the room pretending to be chased, but soon comes back to you for cuddles. She likes to be petted and gives you lots of kisses, but sometimes sudden movements scare her and she will nip at you softly. However, right after she will snuggle up and be cute as a button again. Star will wait for you when you come home and prefers to sleep next to you, wherever you are in the house. She would do best in a home without little kids and with a parent that loves her and is patient. Star now lives with Maverick (another foster cat) in her foster home and, even though they don't like each other very much, she should be fine with another cat in the house. All kitties go to their new owners spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and are negative for FIV/FeLV. The adoption fee is $100. If you are interested in adoption or have any questions, please contact info@rchsks.org.

KiddI'm a sweet 14 year old girl who is just looking for a quiet place to live out my retirement. My golden years have unfortunately not been so golden as I was rescued from certain death after losing my family. I've been hanging out for the past 3 years waiting to find my next family but so far no one has wanted me. If you can provide me with my forever home then please be aware that I have been an only kitty my entire life so it would be best if your home didn't have dogs, cats, and probably young kids (sorry to be picky but that's best for you and myself). I've been spayed and am current on all my shots. Truly, all I require is a warm place to sleep and food and water. To find out more about me or to adopt me please contact my foster Mom at 785-313-2618 or 785-537-0217. I'm also part of the 9-Lives for $9 adoption special that my sponsoring rescue RCHS is running so my adoption fee is only $9 during the month of August.

MarilynIf you're looking for a very low-maintenance companion that prefers your company, but won't be too overbearing, Marilyn just might be your girl! She is a 1.5 year-old, pleasantly stocky but small, short-legged tiger with big, round curious eyes. She is one of RCHS's mama cats who was taken in from a barn cat situation in the Spring, and now it's beyond time for her to find her happy home. She was initially very afraid and would often retreat to her hidey-spot, but now she is a happy, curious, and lovely little companion. She is very good at making friends with other cats, as long as they are good as well. She wants to play, is not aggressive, but also handles alpha-cats with ease. Marilyn's special characteristics are her sweet little 'trills' when she is interested in what you're doing, her evening "chats" (otherwise she is very quiet), and her lively perma-shocked expression! Marilyn is a cautiously shy, observant sweetie, who will display her pleasant and sometimes quirky disposition when she is comfortable with people she knows. She really enjoys the company of other cats once properly introduced, but given her cautious nature, might not enjoy dogs or a louder home. She did spend time with various foster cats needing to gain weight, so she added a bit too much herself. However, she is much more active with her new lease on life, and is starting to slim down again. Marilyn has made great strides in learning to be a pleasant, but not pushy, house-cat with impeccable manners and litter box habits. It's time for someone to give her a chance to be their little companion, and she'll happily return the favor once comfortable again.

Lilly - Adopted! My name is Lilly and I'm around 2 years old. I am such a beautiful girl and I will be a loyal and loving cat. I fit right into new environments and like it when new people come to visit (my foster brother runs and hides in the closet). I do well with cats but I need to be given time to adjust to them so just introduce us slowly. I should not go home with dogs. I also need a loving home that will help me lose a little weight. I'll keep eating if there is food left out so I just need someone who will portion out my meals. I'm part of the 9-Lives for $9 adoption event so my adoption fee is only $9 during August. All kitties go to their new owners spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and are negative for FIV/FeLV. The adoption fee is $9. Luna - Adopted!Luna is a 1 year old very petite, dainty, mild little sleek tuxedo girl with interesting nose markings. She came into RCHS as a barn cat with a litter of kittens, and just might be eligible for the Feline Mother of the Year award! She also came in with another feral barn cat who was too terrified from being moved that she was unable to nurse her own litter of kittens. Little Luna happily and easily took on another litter of kittens to nurse, while still nursing her own. She quickly became underweight from pulling double mother duty, but has since started filling out some and her beautiful sleek coat is returning nicely. Her personality is a bit unusual for a cat her age. She would rather just be loved on instead of playing with toys, and she will gladly return the favor. She prefers to rub up on you in return for belly rubs as she is rolling around next to you. She is meek and calm, and sweetly affectionate. Don't let her tiny size trick you, she can be the dominant girl if need be! She gets along with her foster mate just fine, and they enjoy their snuggle time together. This sweet girl has shown zero aggression in her foster home, and has warmed up nicely to the little boy in her foster home. She does still need a little work to help her trust humans entirely, as she gets a bit nervous when picked up. She had made great strides while in her foster homes, and would make a nice, calm little pet for most any home. I'm part of the 9-Lives for $9 adoption event so my adoption fee is only $9 during August. All kitties go to their new owners spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and are negative for FIV/FeLV. The adoption fee is $9. Maverick - Adopted! My name is Maverick, and I am an 11-year-old boy. I may seem old, but I like to pretend I’m a kitten, especially around laser pointers! I have not been very lucky in finding my forever home. I was returned twice in the last couple of years, once because my parents were moving overseas, and once because I was being bullied by their other cat. I am currently living with a foster family and, although I was shy at first, after a few days I emerged from under the bed and demanded cuddles. I LOVE to be petted! I was bonded with my friend Izzy but she got adopted. I miss her, but am doing ok on my own. I like living with other cats, but they need to be friendly as I am declawed so can’t defend myself very well. Loud noises and unexpected movements scare me sometimes, so I would not do too well living with small children. I would be happiest to live with someone who has lots of time to pet me and who is patient, as I can be shy in the beginning. However, after I have decided you’re my person I will want to be with you all the time. Please bring me home with you, and I will love you forever! Purrrrrs, Maverick I'm part of the 9-Lives for $9 adoption event so my adoption fee is only $9 during August.

Petra - Adopted!I am a cat that loves to play, but would rather not be picked up. I could play with feathers all day! I am very sweet and lovable as long as you let me come to you and I am not forced by you picking me up. I'm part of the 9-Lives for $9 adoption event so my adoption fee is only $9 during August. Sam and Oops - Adopted! This dynamic father daughter duo is looking for a home where they can stay together. They love each other very much and have always lived together. They are very affectionate toward each other but they also like other cats and dogs if given a proper transition period with them. Oops is a 6 year old female all black cat. She is also declawed in the front. Oops is a little bit of a princess and likes to play, be pet, and picked up on her own terms. She loves to cuddle with Sam. She is very curious and likes to be in on the action of the house. She is very sweet once she warms up. Oops is also a fairly vocal girl and makes her voice heard when she is hungry! Sam is 7 year old all black male. He is declawed in the front. Sam is a big guy with a big heart! He is a super sweet guy. He loves to play with his catnip toys and lay by the door in the sun. He also loves belly rubs! Despite his size, he is a lap cat and loves to snuggle. Sam needs some help losing some weight, but he is so handsome and is a really great cat.

Is your heart big enough for the two of them? If so, they'd love to meet you!

We're part of the 9-Lives for $9 adoption event so our adoption fee is only $18 for the two of us during August.

Vanessa - Adopted!I am a 2-year old mom to 5 beautiful kittens. All my kittens have been adopted and now I am looking for my forever home. I have very soft, grey fur that looks and feels just like velvet. I am used to being around dogs, cats and kids at my foster home. I am fairly independent and enjoy sitting in my cat bed and watching what is going on around me. When I want attention I will rub up against you and ask to be petted. I like to gently nibble on your fingers to show my appreciation! I'm part of the 9-Lives for $9 adoption event so my adoption fee is only $9 during August.
