Our adoption process requires you to fill out an interview which helps us determine if you and the animal are a good match.  You will also need to fill out an adoption contract.These forms must be submitted prior to you meeting the animal but do not commit you to the animal for which you are applying.

For the fastest possible response, please be sure to answer all mandatory questions in full, to obtain permission from your landlord for the appropriate animal (if applicable), and to let your references know that a RCHS representative will be contacting them (from a personal phone number, so the number will not show up as RCHS on caller ID).

You may fill these forms out and submit them either via e-mail or online.

We will first review the applications that have come in.  While we strive to do this as quickly as possible, because we are an all-volunteer organization and some animals may receive dozens of applications processing times may vary. Once this is completed we will reach out to the applicant who is most likely to be the best match and arrange for a time for the applicant to meet the animal. Finally, if you and the animal are determined to be a match you will then be asked to sign a copy of your adoption contract. It is important that you read and understand the adoption contract as it is considered a fully executed contract once signed.

Costs of Adoption

The adoption fees are as follows:

• Rabbits - $65(single), $100(bonded pair)

• Guinea Pigs - $35(single), $60(bonded pair)

• Ferrets - $100(single), $175(bonded pair)

• Chinchillas - $100

• Parakeets(Budgie) - $15(single), $25(bonded pair)

• Bearded Dragons - $50

These fees help offset the cost of spay/neutering, vet care, food, supplies and other needs of the animal while in our care.
